OC Metro Names Motorcycle Industry Council Among Best Companies to Work For

IRVINE, Calif., June 22, 2005 – OC Metro, the business lifestyle magazine of Orange County, Calif., selected the Motorcycle Industry Council as one of its seven best companies to work for in 2005. MIC President Tim Buche, a new cruiser motorcycle and three other staff members were featured on the color cover, and an entire page inside was devoted to the MIC, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the ATV Safety Institute, located in Irvine, Calif.

According to the article, “Companies that understand the primal importance of work to their employees and create great work environments are the ones that win in today’s competitive global economy.” Buche stressed the importance of running the not-for-profit trade group like any other business, and that investment in employee benefits and work environment is offered as recognition of results and dedication to the organization’s mission.

“The cover and story are great, but we’re mostly grateful to our more than 300 funding member companies who do us the honor of having us represent them in the marketplace, in the media and on Capitol Hill,” Buche said. “And we thank them for allowing us to create a workplace that attracts talented staff and helps them reach their full professional and personal potential.”

Besides covering specific benefits and the working environment at the MIC, the OC Metro story also touched on the passion, held by many staff, for motorcycling itself. Commuting by bike and coming to work in motorcycle gear are encouraged. Currently, 95 people are employed by the MIC.

Also featured in the article was Donahue Schriber, a real estate company, Spectrum Pharmaceuticals Inc., a prescription drug company, Haskell & White, certified public accountants, Goodwill of Orange County, a nonprofit organization, Best Software, producing business management solutions and GoGamer.com, a wholesale distribution company.

In addition to the OC Metro coverage, the MIC was recently honored by the City of Irvine with a 2005 Family Friendly Business Award, for its policies that benefit employees and their children and other relatives.

OC Metro is a bi-weekly magazine featuring information about businesses, technology, entertainment, and dining in Orange County. It has been published since 1990 and has established a readership of over 344,000. OC Metro is sold at about 1,200 locations throughout Orange County and is the only local business magazine of its type.
