With three key business and trend experts slated to speak at this year's Symposium, you can count on timely information about the economy and the state of the American consumer, as well as the introduction of the first quarterly issue of the MIC Business Forecast & Advisory.
Dr. Esmael Adibi, Dr. Paul Leinberger and Brian Beaulieu are preparing special presentations for the benefit of the MIC membership, loaded with information that you need to know.
The MIC is presenting this Member Only event free of charge, thanks in large part to the MIC Aftermarket Committee. Please note, though, that we'll welcome any corporate or individual donations to help defray the Symposium expenses. This option is available to you at registration and we thank you in advance for your continued support.
With today's economic environment, there has never been a more important time to hear the latest from economics experts, thought leaders and powersports industry icons. "Inroads to the Future" will inform, update and provide a forum for industry discussion throughout the day.
What is coming next for our local, state, and national economies? Is a real turnaround on the horizon? Dr. Adibi, director of Chapman University's A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research and holder of the Anderson Chair in Economic Analysis, will answer these questions and more. Dr. Adibi will present compelling new information on consumer spending, interest rates, and employment.
This will be the first time that Beaulieu has presented at the Symposium. Your MIC staff has been working with his consulting firm, the Institute for Trend Research, and preparing to introduce the first of the quarterly business forecasts that will include content from ITR and from MIC Research. We are planning on a robust Q&A period.
A veteran speaker at many MIC Symposiums, Dr. Leinberger, of The Futures Company, will present "Winning in an Age of Uncertainty: The 2011 State of the American Consumer."
As he puts it: "It is one thing to sit tight and see what happens out there. It is quite another to be the one making things happen. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines, hoping that things will get better. American consumers are anxious and uncertain. They are sitting on their cash, worried that we are headed into another recession - a "double dip" recession. Their "stop-go" lives are speeding up...as if that was even possible. Stress levels are soaring. And there is a sense that uncontrollable forces are at work - shrinking possibility and sapping strength and optimism."
Leinberger will present the findings of the 2011 State of the American Consumer survey - the nation's most comprehensive consumer trends survey. With a special emphasis on the Millennial Generation, he will then suggest concrete steps you can take to make 2012 a banner year - in spite of unprecedented uncertainty and change. A working session with Dr. Leinberger will follow his presentation.
We will again offer a full and rewarding program providing tools and techniques to take back with you to share with your colleagues. With a great program and time for networking with your industry friends this day will be worth your investment.
